Fifteen is the number of BICC meetings held in twelve months.  The subjects discussed were varied ranging from new building regulations to proposals for the use of excavated material.     The attached document lists the meetings and the issues discussed in each meeting. 

The meetings have been very productive not only to raise awareness amongst stakeholders on various construction-related issues but also to make tangible proposal to government.  In particular, the Regulations on the Avoidance of Damage to Third Party were substantially improved following a detailed discussion within BICC.

The first meeting of the newly-constituted Building Industry Consultative Council was held on 16th October 2008.  Having 15 meetings since then is a good achievement especially when one considers that the post of Executive Secretary has been vacant  since the end of last year. Bureaucratic difficulties has delayed the appointment of a new Secretary.    It was thanks to the administrative staff Ms. Anna Bonnici and Ms. Sandra Bugeja that the momentum of meetings was maintained.
