Perit John Ebejer is an architect and urban planner with eighteen years experience in both the public and private sector. He was involved in a number of major planning projects including the Tourism Masterplan for the Maltese Islands (1989), the Structure Plan (1992) various local plans, action plans and development briefs. He was also a member of the Development Control Commission of MEPA (2002- 04)
He has been involved in a diversity of architectural design projects including housing, offices, a sports complex, commercial development and holiday complexes.
He specialised in tourism product development and was involved in a number of MTA initiatives and projects aimed at improving Malta’s tourism product. He identified project proposals and coordinated the submission of a project application by the Malta Tourism Authority for European Regional Development Funds.
He wrote various papers on planning, the property market and on tourism product development. He was Maltese technical Expert on CITUM, a European wide URBACT programme on citizen urban mobility. He also co-authored Impression, Aesthetics, Design, a BICC publication. He lectures part-time on Tourism and Spatial Planning at the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, University of Malta.
In recent years, he was policy advisor on land use planning in the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment. He was actively involved in the review of various pieces of planning and environment legislation as well as planning policy documents.
In the voluntary sector, he was Hon. Secretary of the Kamra tal-Periti (2000- 02) and is currently Hon. Secretary of the Valletta Alive Foundation.
He graduated as an architect and civil engineer from the University of Malta in 1987 and subsequently obtained a Masters in Town and Regional Planning from the University of Sheffield (1990 – 92). He is married and has two children.
